Problem

How do I get my SSL Certificate reissued for SHA-1?

Solution

By default, eNom issues SSL Certificates for SHA-2. If you need an SSL Certificate in SHA-1, please follow the steps below to have the certificate reissued in SHA-1.

COMODO

If you have a COMODO SSL Certificate, please submit a support ticket from with your eNom/BulkRegister account with the CSR to request a new SSL Certificate to be issued for SHA-1. We will work with COMODO to generate the SHA-1 certificate for you. COMODO has stated that re issue of certificates in SHA-1 will not be done for SSL certificates that expire after 2015.

NOTE: Any following re-issues of a cert re-issued as SHA-1 will also be issued as SHA-1 unless otherwise indicated.

Geotrust and Symantec

If you have purchased a Geotrust or Symantec SSL Certificate, you will be able to reissue the certificate yourself via the Online Portal. Follow the steps below to reissue your certificate as SHA-1 using the GeoTrust and Symantect Portal. Re-issue of certificates in SHA-1 will not be done for SSL certificates that expire after 2015

For GeoTrust:

Visit the user Portal at: https://products.geotrust.com/orders/orderinformation/authentication.do

  1. Generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR).
  2. Access the RapidSSL User Portal for SSL certificate re-issuance. Click https://products.geotrust.com/geocenter/reissuance/reissue.do.
  3. Select Request Access against the correct order ID. An e-mail will be sent to the technical contact e-mail address specified above.
  4. Click on the link listed in the e-mail to enter the User Portal.
  5. Click the Reissue Certificate option in the left hand column.
  6. On the following screen select your Hashing Algorithm, then copy and paste the new CSR.
  7. Select the Subscriber Agreement, click Submit. After the order is approved the SSL certificate will be re-issued.

For Symantec:

Visit the user portal at: https://products.verisign.com/orders/orderinformation/authentication.do

  1. Generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR)
  2. Access the Symantec User Portal for SSL certificate re-issuance. Click https://products.verisign.com/orders/orderinformation/authentication.do.
  3. Select Request Access against the correct order ID. An e-mail will be sent to the technical contact e-mail address specified above.
  4. Click on the link listed in the e-mail to enter the User Portal.
  5. Click the Reissue Certificate option in the left column.
  6. On the following screen select your Hashing Algorithm, then copy and paste the new CSR.
  7. Select the Subscriber Agreement, and then click Submit. After the order is approved the SSL certificate will be re-issued.
