How to Back Up Web Files

Problem

How do I back up my web files?

Solution

To backup your Web files:

  1. Log into the Plesk control panel (How to Access the Control Panel).
  2. If you're backing up all of your domains, click Home on the left. If you're backing up an individual domain, click Domains on the left and then click on the domain.
  3. Click the Backup Manager icon.
  4. Click Personal FTP Repository Settings. You can store your backups in your web hosting account, or you can store them at an alternate FTP server if you have one. To use your web hosting account, please enter the appropriate FTP information (see Upload Files to Web Hosting Account ).
  5. Manual Backup:
    1. Click the Back Up icon. Under Backup Content, choose Client's Configuration and Content. Make the desired setting for the check box Suspend Domains until Backup task is Completed.
    2. Click OK. You can check the status of the backup by clicking the Current Backup Tasks tab.
  6. Scheduled Backup:
    1. Click the Scheduled Backup Settings icon.
    2. Check the Activate this Backup Task check box. Select the Backup Period and set the time/date for Start Backup Creation at (HH:mm). Under Backup Content, choose Client's Configuration and Content. Make the desired setting for the check box, Suspend Domains until Backup task is Completed.
  7. Click OK.

To restore a backup:

  1. Log into the Plesk control panel (How to Access the Control Panel).
  2. If you're restoring a backup of all of your domains, click Home on the left. If you're restoring a backup of an individual domain, click Domains on the left and then click on the domain.
  3. Click the Backup Manager icon, and then select the backup you would like to restore.
  4. Make the desired setting for Suspend domains until restoration task is completed. Click Restore.
  5. If the Conflicts Occurred During the Restoration Process page appears, review the information and then click Next.
  6. If the Resolution Rules for Restoration Conflicts page appears, make the desired settings and then click Next.
