Problem

How do I manage domain folders and magic folders?

Solution

Use the information in the following sections to manage Domain Folders and Magic Folders.

Manage Folders

To create a New Domain Folder:

  1. Under Domains, click My Domains, and then click Folders.
  2. Enter a folder name and a description.
  3. To create a Magic Folder, check the Create as Magic Folder box.
  4. Click Go. If you created a magic folder, the Folder Overview page will be displayed, and you can make your desired settings.

Convert a Regular Domain Folder to a Magic Folder (or vice versa):

  1. Under Domains, click My Domains, and then click Folders.
  2. Click the Settings link of the folder you want to convert.
  3. In the General Settings section, switch the folder type and save the change.

Delete a Domain Folder:

  1. Under Domains, click My Domains, and then click Folders.
  2. Click Delete to the right of the desired folder.

Manage Folder Settings

View or Modify Folder Settings:

  1. Under Domains, click My Domains, and then click Folders.
  2. Click Settings to the right of the folder.
  3. If it's a regular folder, the only settings are folder name and description. If it's a magic folder, the following settings can be modified:
    • Registrar-Lock
    • Auto Renew
    • Domain Access Password
    • DNS Servers
    • Host Records (only for hostname www, @(none), *(all others))
    • Contact Information
  4. For Magic Folders, navigate to the desired settings. Click the Make this setting Magic box to apply the setting to all domains in the folder.

NOTE: MX record settings are not supported for magic folders. MX records have to be set manually on each domain.

Search for Folders and Folder Associations

List folders:

  • Under Domains, click My Domains, and then click Folders.

View folder associations:

  • Under Domains, click My Domains. By default, the Registered tab will be selected, and all your registered domains will be listed.

If a domain has been placed in a folder, an icon will be displayed in the folder column. If the domain is stored in both a standard folder and a magic folder, the magic folder icon will be used.

Search for domains by folder association:

  1. Under Domains, click My Domains, and then click Search.
  2. Select the desired criteria in the In Folder and Sync Status with Folder drop-down lists.
  3. Click Search.

NOTE: If you want to save the current search parameters (so you do not have to reapply them the next time you search your portfolio), click Set as Default.

Manage Domains within Folders

Move or Copy Domain(s) to Domain Folders:

  1. Under Domains, click My Domains.
  2. Check the box to left of each domain you wish to copy or move.
  3. Select either Move to Folder or Copy to Folder.
  4. Select the destination folder from the second drop-down list.
  5. Click Go.

NOTE: Copying a domain to a folder maintains its previous association with other folders. This method allows a domain to belong to multiple folders. Moving a domain to a new folder removes the domain from all other folders and places it exclusively in the new folder.

Remove Domain(s) from All Domain Folders:

  1. Under Domains, click My Domains.
  2. Check the box to left of each domain you wish to remove from the folder(s).
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page. From the LIST ACTIONS drop-down list on the left, select Remove from Folders.
  4. Click Go.

The domains will be removed from all domain folders.
