Problem

How do I edit multiple domains at once?

Solution

The Global Edit tool is used to apply the same change to multiple domains at once. Global Edit allows you to update Contact Information, DNS Servers, Auto Renew, Registrar Lock, Domain Passwords, Host Settings and Parking Services.

There are two ways to perform to use Global Edit. You can choose to input the information manually or to select a domain for use as a model (base your changes on its settings).

To make a global edit manually:

  1. Under Domains, click Bulk Tools, and then click Global Edit.
  2. Click the Manual Input radio button, and then click Next.
  3. Select the domain attribute you want to modify, and then do one of the following:
    • Check All Domains

Apply the change to all domains in your portfolio

    • Check List of Domains

      Paste a list of domains

    • Check Domain Search

Build a search query to build a list

  4. Use the Add/Remove buttons to select and move domains between the Remain the Same and Edit lists. Click Next.
  5. Configure the setting for the domain attribute (e.g. Registrant Contact Information) you wish to change. Click Next.
  6. Confirm the edit you are about to make by clicking Submit.

To base a global edit on an existing domain's settings:

  1. Under Domains, click Bulk Tools, and then click Global Edit.
  2. Check the Domain Model radio button, and then click Next.
  3. Select the domain attribute you want to modify.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • Check List

Recommended for short lists; allows you to add or remove domains

    • Check Direct

Recommended for large lists; you won't be able to edit the list, but you will save time

  5. Choose the desired options to build your list. Click Next.
  6. Input the model domain. Click Apply Changes to make the global edit.

NOTE: Global edits are not necessarily applied immediately. For more information, please see the article, KB 131 Global Edit - Timeframe to Process Complete.
