   Setting Email Host Records

Definitions

When creating email accounts we recommend setting these host records for each domain name using our email services. If the domain names are in your domain name account with us, all host records are automaticaly set for you. If the names are at a different registrar you'll have set them yourself (as we can't control them).

@ MX record: points addresses to mail servers. Required for any domain using our mail services.

POP CNAME host record: points to our POP mail server. Allows people to use pop.their-domain.com as their POP server (incoming mail server) in email applications when setting up their account.

SMTP CNAME host record: points to our SMTP mail server. Allows people to use smpt.their-domain.com as their SMTP server (outgoing mail server) in email applications when setting up their account.

WEBMAIL CNAME host record: points to our WEBMAIL web site. Allows people to use http://webmail.their-domain.com as their WebMail internet address (URL).

Domains in your domain name account with us

When you create the first email account with a particular domain name, we would automatically create or modified host records if they weren't set to point to our mail servers. The host names listed below are automatically added/changed in your domain name DNS settings page in the domain control panel.

If MXE (Mail Easy) records were present, they would be deleted.

The host names listed below are automatically added/changed in your domain name DNS settings page in the domain control panel. If there were duplicate host record names they were changed.

Domain names hosted with a different registrar and/or not in the domain account or immediate sub-acccount this Web Hosting account was purchased from.

You will need to make sure the email host records are set properly to point to our mail servers on the domain names which are not in your account with us.

Log in to your domain name account and go to your email settings page to create the following email host records:
