| What TLDs are supported in your transfer process? So far, only .com, .net, .org, .nu, .tv, and .cc are supported in our transfer process. .info, .biz, and .bz are coming soon. How do I transfer a name to eNom from another registrar? There is an electronic process from within your account to perform a Transfer. You can now either choose the FAX method (you FAX the information to us and we finish the transfer), or the "Auto-Verification" method (paper-less) method which is more convenient and faster. Transfer instructions
Do I have to create the transfer electronically, or can I just fax a letter to you? You must initiate the transfer electronically on our site. In order to provide proper processing of your domains, we need to have the electronic transfer request created. This provides an order number for easy tracking. Is there a fee for transferring a domain name to eNom? There is no "Transfer Fee" when transferring a name to eNom. However, you will be charged a one year registration fee, which adds a year to the registration of your domain name. (ex. if your domain name expires on June 2nd 2007, and you transfer your domain name to eNom, you will be charged the regular 1 year registration fee for the TLD, and your domain will now expire June 2nd 2008). Will I be charged if the transfer fails? Because eNom doesn't charge a "Transfer fee" when you initiate a transfer, you won't be charged if the transfer fails. You are charged the regular 1 year registration fee once the transfer is successful. Is there any reason why a transfer would be rejected? A domain is required to be with the current registrar for 60 days, and cannot have an expired status. These are the two common reasons a transfer would be rejected due to domain status. Each registrar may have it's own policy on waiting periods and should be consulted should a question arise. Is hosting a name the same thing as transferring a name? No, hosting means that you are leaving the name with another registrar and only using eNom's DNS services. There is still a charge for this, it is the same charge as registering a new name. Once I transfer my name to you, does my time of renewal change? Yes, the transfer simply adds one year to the time you have left on your original registration. Why don't the e-mail forwarding (or URL forwarding) services appear after a transfer? After a transfer, the contact information changes, but not the DNS servers. So if you want to use eNom's DNS services, be sure to go to your domain name and change the DNS servers to eNom's servers. What does the term "Registrar Lock" mean? This is a feature that prevents your domain name from being transferred from eNom to another registrar. If you are attempting to transfer a name away from eNom, this lock must be removed. How do I add or remove the "Registrar Lock" from my domain? Log into your account, click "Domain Names" (gold menu item), click "My Domains" (blue menu), click on the domain name you want to modify. This will take you to the Domain Name Control Panel, a page that allows you to edit all settings for this particular domain. The "Registrar Lock" option is a link named "Set Reg-lock/Auto-Renew Options" at the bottom of the page in the "Utilities" section. Check or uncheck it, press save changes, and you're done. Is there a charge by eNom if I decide to transfer away to another registrar at a later date? No, we do not charge you to move away from us. If I transfer my name to eNom, does the whois information stay the same? When you create the transfer order, you have the option to retain the existing whois information, or apply new data. The name server information will always remain the same. If you have any additional questions, please contact the eNom® Support Center. |
