Web Hosting is a great new product at eNom. You will find that most things work the same as regular domain products, but you will also find new things to accommodate the fact that Web Hosting can be very different from domains. This document has separate sections for resellers selling Web Hosting via the API, and for resellers selling Web Hosting via PDQ. You will also find a series of FAQs targeted to either or both.

eNom Web Hosting

We have made it even easier than ever before to offer a new product. We have designed Web Hosting around two different management interfaces. The first interface is the Web Hosting packages sale and management section. This is the section currently on the eNom site where users can buy and manage their packages, and where all transactions are innitiated from. Second, is a customer management section called the Web Site Control Panel where users login to the package they already bought to modify their hosted web sites. This new web site will be unbranded (brandable through PDQ), and will be accessed by your customers at this address: http://webhosting.ehost-services.com (API resellers) or http://webhosting.your-pdq-site.com (PDQ resellers).

Set Up

However you offer Web Hosting, you will first have to set up your default retail prices, your default retail Web Hosting packages, and your individual reseller sub-account prices (if you have any). All resellers currently have to go to the eNom web site to set these right now. We will soon have commands for doing so through the API.

Web Hosting for API Resellers

You will find all our web Web Hosting commands in our Web Hosting API documentation. More commands will be listed soon and with a quick guide on how to use them.

You may choose to develop your site to just sell the packages, and have your customers use the Web Hosting Control Panel Interface to do all the web site management, or to also build your own version of the Web Hosting Control Panel. Whichever route you take you will first need to set up your prices and Web Hosting packages.

Your first step in offering Web Hosting should be to set up Default Retail Pricing and Packages. This is done in the usual place: My Account --> Settings
In the settings page you will see a new section called "Web Hosting Settings". This section shows your default retail packages and their prices. Click "change" to modify them.

The Web Hosting Settings page gives you more flexibility to offer Web Hosting than anyone in the industry. eNom offers Web Hosting to its resellers at the unit level. You get to create your own packages. In this page you will see two sections: the "Component Unit Pricing" section and the "Set Packages" section.

You can now follow the instructions in the box below called "Setting up Pricing and Packages". Once saved you are ready to offer Web Hosting.

Web Hosting for PDQ Resellers

Your first step in offering Web Hosting on PDQ should be to set up your Default Retail Prices and Packages.

If you already have a PDQ site published, go to your PDQ "edit site" tab, go to the "services" sub-tab, check on Web Hosting (note Web Hosting cannot be turned off once enabled), save these changes and go to the "Web Hosting sub-tab" (new). Then follow the instructions in the next section called "Setting up Pricing and Packages".

If you don't already have a published PDQ site and are setting up your site for the first time ("Sign up tab"), we recommend not offering it at signup. As soon as you have signed up and published your site, go to your PDQ "edit site" tab, go to the "services" sub-tab, check on Web Hosting (note Web Hosting cannot be turned off once enabled), save these changes and go to the "Web Hosting sub-tab". Then follow the instructions in the next section called "Setting up Pricing and Packages".

Setting up pricing and Packages

1. Component Unit Pricing
In this section you get to set prices on each unit of each component.

Storage: 1-400 units of 1GB (1GB-400GB)
Bandwidth: 1-150 units of 20GB (20GB-3000GB)
POP Email boxes: 1-30 units of 10 boxes (10boxes-300boxes)
MS-SQL Database: 0-30 units of 250MB (No SQL database-7500MB)

You will see your cost per component unit contained in each packages, and a text box right below to enter how much you would like to charge per unit.
Notice that we are now offering quantity discounts (1-4, 5-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50+ units).

Example: If your cost is $2.00 per unit of storage (1GB) and you set your price at $3.00, a package containing 5 units of storage (5GB) will cost you $10.00 ($2.00x5) and you'll end up charging $15.00 ($3.00x5) per month for that component.

2. Set Packages
Here you get to configure how many packages you want to offer, what their names will be, and what combination of components each package will consist of. We have entered by default 3 packages (named Silver, Gold, and Platinum) that your customers will see and purchase if you choose not to set any custom packages.

This table reflects the prices you have saved above multiplied by the quantity of each component unit, and adding each component. Once you have enterred a name for the packages you want to offer, you can select each value for each package. Click "Re-Calculate" everytime you have come to a set of values you like. You will get to see your new cost on the package, and how much you will charge your customers.

Please note that the packages are set values only at the point of purchase. Once purchased, each package becomes a Web Hosting account where each component can then be upgraded up to it its maximum offering.

Set your packages and save
You are now ready to offer Web Hosting on your site. (Please see below if you have reseller sub-accounts)

3. PDQ Resellers
You can now go to the "services" tab in your PDQ management section, and check Web Hosting "On". Save that setting, and finaly publish your site. If you have any custom header content (in your PDQ management tab called "extras"), your PDQ looking Web Hosting Control Panel will start off with a simpler header. You can choose to also aply the same custom header to the Web Hosting control panel by going to the Extras tab, and checking the "Enable custom header text on Web Hosting" checkbox.

If you have Reseller Sub-Accounts

It is important to know that until you have explicitly set their prices, your reseller sub-accounts will inherit your reseller prices and your retail prices. However they will inherit the default eNom packages. Please be sure to set all of your resellers' pricing quickly as they will inherit your prices and you won't be making any commision if they sell packages. They will also not be able to set their custom retail prices until you have explicitly set their own prices.

If you have reseller sub-accounts you will have to go to the Resellers --> Sub-Account section of our site and edit each individual account to give them their new reseller price.

Click on the reseller account you wish to edit. Click on the "Manage Web Hosting Packages pricing for this account here" link, and you will be taken to this sub-account's Web Hosting pricing page. Please note that this page is just for pricing, and that a read only section of your packages configuration will only show for your retail customers, and doesn't appear for reseller sub-accounts (since they don't inherit your packages).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Billing

If I have some Web Hosting customers and I want to change my prices, how will current customers be affected?
Web Hosting works differently in the way that it is the first monthly billing product we have. All customers having your default pricing get affected by a price change. So if you augment the per unit price of a quantity of 1-4 storage units by $1.00, all customers who have a package between 1 and 4 units will be billed an extra $1.00 per unit at the next billing cycle.

I see eNom charges set up fees. Can I also do that?
Yes, you can choose which packages have a setup fee, if any.

One of the bandwidth overage options is a charge of a premium per Gigabyte over. Do I get a commision?
No. This is a low price which we currently have only to cover our overage costs. We may in the future allow you to set a price and get a commission on this item too.
